Campaign to Protect Rural England

"Our campaign against flawed elements of the Government’s planning reforms has really been gathering pace and packing a punch."

Says Laura Jansen, CPRE Campaigns Team

Campaign to Protect Rural EnglandThanks to people like you, our campaign against flawed elements of the Government’s planning reforms has really been gathering pace and packing a punch.

As a result of our parliamentary lobbying and high profile media work, David Cameron is now willing to talk to us. And my colleagues have been busy developing our policy response, building alliances and bending the ears of politicians at all three of the recent party conferences.

We are like whirling dervishes in the office as we keep up the pressure on the National Planning Policy Framework to secure the changes needed. You may have seen Bill Bryson’s interview in the Sunday Telegraph this weekend, along with a letter signed by 16 celebrities backing our campaign in the Sunday Times. We ran an advert alongside Bill’s article, and will be emailing Guardian online readers later this week to ask for their support.

CPRE campaigners have now sent over 5,500 letters to MPs and over 2,700 responses to the Government’s consultation on the National Planning Policy Framework.

Please, please, please, if you haven’t yet found time to send your views on the Framework to the Government, do so before 17 October, which is when the consultation closes.

Our draft online letter covers the key changes CPRE wishes to see. As well as raising this issue with MPs, it’s so important people like you show the Government how strongly you feel by registering your views as part of the official consultation.

*Send your views to the Government (our online letter action makes it quick and easy)
*Find out more about the consultation
(takes you to the Department for Communities & Local Government website)

I’ll keep you up-to-date on how our campaign gets along and what we’ll be doing to keep the pressure on the Government following the consultation.

Thank you very much.

I pine for a more sensible approach to saving our forests
