I walked the first 5-ish miles of the Thames Path yesterday and had to chuckle at the non-horsey-ness of the South Gloucester council.
They've posted NO Horse-riding signs on stiles, circular kissing gates and the best one was on the top step of a wooden bridge barely wide enough to let two pairs of size 16 hips pass, let alone a 16hh horse.
I was amazed and amused in equal proportions that the council would even think that riders would attempt some of the obstacles. I had enough trouble getting a large dog through and over some of them!
I do like their Quiet Lane signs though, I thought that was a really good idea.
