Attached is my Covering Letter and Witness Statement for the 2009 Public Inquiry, initiated by the landowners and Hampshire County Council in their objection to the Order for a bridleway from Cradle Lane to BW54 Broxhead Common across the common land.
It is quite lengthy, but the Inspectorate had advised that I submit as much information as I intended to rely on
Planning Inspectors had always been helpful and fair in my previous Public Inquiries, they realised that this was a place where local government could be held to account directly by the taxpayer. They also knew that people were not lawyers and would expect all questions to be answered by the objectors.
With a ledger full of new evidence, I hoped that this would help come to a reasonable solution for a comprehensive network of bridleways over commonland horseriders had once enjoyed full access to.

Next time: A most awful and unexpected experience
It’s vitally important that riders know and maintain their Rights of Way.
If we don’t know and maintain our Rights of Way, we will have less and less land on which to ride.
The problem is knowing our Rights of Way!
